Sendak & MCA sketch
The world of creativity took a double blow this week with the passing of Beastie Boy, Adam Yauch, on Friday and passing of legendary children's book illustrator, Maurice Sendak, today. Both have been major influences to me at different stages of my life- and still to this day. "Where The Wild Things Are" is my all-time favorite children's book. I remember loving it as a kid not only because of the illustrations but the imagination in the message. The Beastie Boys have been favorites of mine since "Check Your Head." Their music was always fun yet they had many messages about being true to oneself and each other. Both artists knew not to take things too seriously. I really hope they're having a wild rumpus in the afterlife!
